Mistakes every bride should avoid!

Mistakes every bride should avoid!

As a bride, your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. So, what are the pitfalls to be aware of when planning your extra special day? Read on for our take on what to avoid.

As you delight in the beautiful images on Pinterest or sample different cake selections, it’s easy to get carried away with the bliss of getting married. But you’ll need to remember there are certain mistakes that can derail even the best-laid plans. Here are our top 5 mistakes to avoid.

#1 Not delegating tasks

It’s normal to want to be in control of every aspect of your wedding day, but trying to do too much can be overwhelming and just stress you out by the time you get to your big day. Instead, assign tasks to family and friends and make sure they are well-versed in what needs to be done.

#2 Not having a plan B

As a Gold Coast wedding photographer, I’ve seen many couples get obsessed about the weather and the conditions in the run-up to their big day. They can be fixated on getting the glamour wedding day without having a plan B in case the weather doesn’t play ball. We always recommend and scope out back-up plans for any major issues, such as bad weather or a broken-down vehicle.

#3 Not scheduling enough time

It’s easy to underestimate the amount of time you need to get ready on your wedding day. Make sure to add in extra time to accommodate any delays and last-minute make-up or hair fixups that may arise. The same applies to your photography: err on the side of extra time in your schedule wherever possible.

#4 Not pre-planning with your vendors

Before the big day, make sure you talk to all your vendors and discuss the details of your wedding. At Feather & Finch Photography, we make things easy for you by providing you with a template run sheet, to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that you know what to expect.

#5 You get the catering wrong

Make sure to order enough food for your wedding reception. The last thing you want on your wedding day is a low-energy DJ or a depleted photographer! Remember to feed any hired hands working during the reception as well. And remember that you’ll need to eat, too!

By avoiding these common mistakes, you can rest easy and know that your wedding day will be as stress-free as possible. With some careful planning and preparation, you can make sure your wedding day is one to remember!
