Wedding dress woes

As a bride, we understand that you might worry about your dress getting dirty or wrinkled. Have a read of our tips on how to reduce your worries and focus on the wonders of your wedding day!

We know that you want everything to be perfect on your wedding day. You’ve read all the articles about wedding dress preservation. You know that if you’re going to cherish your dress for years to come, then prevention is vital, and you need to be careful during wear.

So, it’s no surprise that you’re going to be feeling a bit anxious around red wine, cute but dirty kids and damp confetti coming near you.

Here’s the reality: your dress will get dirty! Most of you will have a white dress, you’ll be out in nature, it might be raining, and you’ll be hugging and kissing people holding drinks all day (and night) long!

But there are a couple of things you can do:

Change your attitude

“Let it go!”, “You only get one day”, and “Don’t sweat the small stuff” could all be mottos to tell yourself, so you can relax into your wedding dress and leave the worries behind. Just have some fun and see the dress as one part of the whole day. It’s not the be-all and end-all! After all, you can’t keep the bottom of your shoes clean all day!

Get out the baby wipes

As long as your dress isn’t made of silk or linen, baby wipes are your wedding dress’s best friend! They can quickly remove all manner of stains and are so convenient to have close at hand. Ask your bridesmaid to have a pack available for those minor emergencies.

If you’re super anxious, get a sheet

It might be a bit OTT, but if you’re going to be standing in soil or sand or long grass, you might want to get a bed sheet that’s about the same colour as your dress, and then lay it down before you step on it. The photographer can then hide the excess under your dress, assuming it goes all the way to the ground.

Have fun!

If your dress gets a little dirty, it’s not the end of the world. The most important thing is that you have a great time and feel relaxed and at ease, so these happy vibes are captured in your wedding photographs. These good times and beautiful images are what will make your wedding a day to remember.
