Before you sign on the dotted line with your photographer, make sure you know what’s included in the standard package and if there are any added extras that you want to take advantage of.

Here’s what you might expect as part of a wedding package:

On the day

Each photographer you enquire with may handle what they offer slightly different. For some they may offer specific hourly packages, others may have a one size package.

You can expect to see a mix on the hours they are offering.

To get a good idea of what your after, first think of what will be happening during these certain times, write down a rough timeline and you will then get an idea of how long you may need a photographer for. Sometimes it may also be easier to just have a photographer for a full days coverage so you can forget about trying to maybe cram things in or miss things.

Online gallery

Your contract should state how many digital images you can expect to receive. This may be a range depending on the type of wedding, but most will be from 400 – 1000. I never state the exact number of final images, as I am never sure of the story until I am photographing it and would never want to cap a certain number of images, my job is to document it and deliver the story, however many photos that is.

USB stick

You should be given a USB stick containing the high-resolution image files of the edited images. Many photographers are now also sending or only sending online galleries which is a great way to ensure all your images are safe

An engagement shoot

A pre-wedding shoot is a great way to get to know your photographer and practise being in front of the camera, plus you’ll have more time and choice of locations than you may have on your wedding day.

A second photographer

If you literally want the camera in two places at one time, you may choose to hire a second photographer for more coverage of your day. Your photographer may be able to recommend someone they have worked with before, or they also may recommend you not having one, have a chat to them about this.

A Wedding album

There is no substitute for a printed album of photos. Some photographers will include an album, or you can choose it as an add-on. At Feather and Finch, we offer you the opportunity to purchase a beautifully handmade album, have a look here.

Highlight video

Some photographers will put together a short slideshow set to music showcasing a selection of the best and most touching moments from the day. This is a nice addition and perfect for sharing with the guests afterwards or posting on social media.

Depending on the wedding story, I supply between 400-1000 images of your day. You’ll receive all of your imagery within 30 days of the wedding. We can also include printed photos and albums.
