The Real Reasons I Love Destination Wedding Photography

Being behind the lens of camera is my all-time favourite, whether it be shooting a real wedding, the first-minute nerves of an engagement shoot (that never last much longer than that) or the raw moments of my son’s evolving happiness, I learnt through the personal experiences at a young age that having once in a lifetime moments to cherish forever is something that can never be replaced.  

So why destination wedding photography? While the endless adventures it enables me to endure are incredible, there is so much more to a destination wedding that meets the eye. Yes, the location is impeccable, but all the moments surrounding allow me to immerse myself into their world of love, how people look and feel when they are seen together and how they act when they have their selves alone. They are completely relaxed, and truly soaking up every inch of their time away in one of their favourite locations. 

Taking my camera to exotic places around the world is something I am truly grateful for, but the experiences that come along with are honestly even more beautiful. Spending time on the pristine shores of crystal clear waters, right through to riding chair lifts to the top of snow-capped mountains, being able to shoot the raw excitement and true love between these souls truly ignites my passion for photography. 

While there are the obvious perks for the peeps in this profession, there are also many for the bride and groom. Having a photographer that you have formed a relationship with leading up to your wedding can play a huge part in the result of your wedding captures, not to mention ease some unneeded nerves on the big day. If you get the opportunity to get in front of the camera for an engagement shoot, you will feel a million dollars knowing how your story will be brought to life on your wedding day, not to mention that camera-shy husband to be will know that he doesn’t have to pose and pout to get the perfect shot! 

Now finally, and I’m not throwing this one in on anyone’s behalf but you may just get a little more. Having the opportunity to travel and explore new places allows your photographer to investigate the best of the best locations and who knows, maybe even sneak in a few extra shots while they are relaxing and enjoying the spectacular surroundings of your now special place with your family and friends.
