10 tips for a stress-free wedding

We’ve heard it all before: getting married is one of the biggest days of our lives. But that doesn’t mean it has to be stressful, especially when you keep our top ten tips in mind.

  • Plan ahead

I know this is easier said than done – there are heaps of elements to planning a wedding. No one ever said spreadsheets were sexy, but it’s a great way to list down all the requirements, so you keep on top of all the tasks.

  • Get clear on what you want

You will no doubt be bombarded with images, articles and information about weddings. But take some time to prioritise what’s most important to you both, whether it’s speeches, music, food or photography.

  • Know your budget

It’s easy to get carried away with all the stereotypes of a wedding. Make sure you get super clear on what you are willing to spend and what that actually means in terms of all the different aspects of a wedding.

  • Have a plan B

If any part of your wedding is outdoors, you’ll want to have a Plan B. You’ll need to be flexible with the weather, so think through all eventualities before the wedding day arrives.

  • Be the boss

And that means delegate! Work with family and friends to get jobs done, whether it’s sorting the table decorations or arranging the soundtrack, use the skills of those around you.

  • Dress for success

All eyes will be on the bride, so you’ll needs to feel comfortable above all else. So that means trying on your dress and wearing in your shoes. Make sure you’re comfy in your lingerie and that your chosen hairdo will go the distance.

  • Choose your tribe

You’re going to want people around you in the run-up to the wedding who can help ease your stress, not add to it. So choose one or two people to make sure you get through the day in one piece. They’ll take care of all those curveballs or minutiae details, so you don’t have to.

  • Have clear expectations

It’s your day, so make sure everyone understands your needs for the day. Brief your suppliers so nothing gets missed or overlooked. You want to be able to enjoy every moment of your day without fretting over the small stuff.

On the actual day:

  • Remember to eat

You are the stars of the show, so don’t forget to eat. You’ll need all the energy you can get on a day like this, so keeping well hydrated and nourished throughout the day will mean you can last all night long!

  • Capture the moments

Almost everyone would agree, a wedding day goes past fast, so remember to slow down for moments and simply be present to the day. That could be stopping and really looking in your bridesmaid’s eyes or enjoying the sunset on the deck with your newly-wed. These are the moments that will stick with you forever.
