Having your pets at your wedding: the pros and cons
For many, their pooch is their best friend, so why not have them at your wedding? Here we explore the pros and cons of having pets or animals along for the ride on your special day.
At Feather & Finch Photography, we are seeing more and more couples bringing their pets to their wedding. Animals can add a one-of-a-kind flair to your ceremony. For many, it’s seen as a symbol of a happy marriage to bring their pet along, particularly dogs.
Pro #1:
Animals can add a unique, personal touch to your wedding. If you have a beloved pet, having them involved in the ceremony can make for a memorable experience and can often bring joy to others.
Pro #2:
Animals can be a great source of entertainment at your wedding. Horses, llamas and even chickens can create that sense of wonder and delight for the guests. If it fits with your personalities, then why not!
Pro #3:
You’re guaranteed to get some great photographs when animals are involved. Perhaps consider your dog being a ring bearer or just tie a ribbon around the dog’s neck for that addition of style. As experienced Gold Coast wedding photographers, we love capturing your day with all your loved ones – including your pets.
Con #1:
Having animals at your wedding can be a logistical challenge. Depending on the type of animal, you’ll need to factor in food, water and space for them. If this seems too stressful or ‘just another thing’ to organise, then find a neighbour or professional caretaker who can step in.
Con #2:
You’ll need to make sure that the venue is pet-friendly and that your animals are well-behaved. If you’re inviting lots of guests, you’ll need to make sure that the animals won’t be a distraction or cause any disturbances at just the wrong moments!
Con #3:
It’s worth remembering some guests may be uncomfortable around animals or have allergies. You should take steps to make sure that these guests feel comfortable and are able to enjoy the day.
Overall, having animals at your wedding can be a fun and unique way to make your special day even more delightful. If you’re aware of all the downsizes and you’re still keen, we say, “Go for it!”
